Back in the Game

Seasons greetings including a belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Phuket, where I return after close to an 18-month absence.

No small thanks to the people we had booked a villa through however.  Even giving them the benefit of the doubt where "the owner of the villa was no longer in a position to offer it for rental", the fact remains we had booked and confirmed it in May, and paid all amounts before the due date back in October.  Only after several months of chasing for the arrival details, were we finally told - the week before Christmas - that it was no longer available.  And then have to chase for a refund.

Certainly not the kind of news we were expecting the week before Christmas, and especially with a family of six with flights booked to Phuket but nowhere to stay.  

Luckily we were able to make alternative arrangements, and are staying in a quiet part of Laguna not far from the beach, which is helping all the stresses of 2012 slowly wash away

Still, I have absolutely no hesitation in warning people away from booking anything through www.letsinthesun.com.  Their fault or not, the fact remains we had accomodation confirmed and paid for months ago, and to be told it is no longer available the week before Christmas is simply inexcusable.

Anyhow, greetings from Phuket.  Next stop Bangkok for a night, and a few days in Chang Mai, before heading back to Singapore and getting into 2013.
